Two inch foam was used as a base.  This will permit a larger variety of scenic possibilities than a thinner layer.  Rick Anderson has simulated a fill over a gully with a log retaining wall.  The logs are roughed and stained dowels.

The rail is code 70.  The ties are glued directly to the foam.  Turnouts are constructed in place and are custom fit.  They will, however, conform to the minimum mainline radius of 13”.  There is no minimum radius for branch lines off the main line.

Two HO deck bridges span the river.  They will be supported by a pier in the center.
